The property had been empty prior to the THI-supported works. The THI grant has helped the owner carry our external repairs, to a conservation standard. This includes reinstating traditional sash and case windows and wooden shutters, repairing the stone and the rainwater goods (gutters and downpipes).
Before external repairs were carried out the building was in quite poor condition. It has suffered from a lack of maintenance and a modern cement had been used on the stonework. This had caused damage to the natural stone as was removed as part of the building work.
Separately, the owner has converted the interior into two residential units. This will help to bring more people into the town centre to live and use the facilities that are on offer.
