6 Vicar Street was awarded a grant to carry out improvements to its shopfront. A 1930s shopfront had been covered over in the past with a large board over its fascia and the leaded glass clerestory. The clerestory was only discovered when the architect carried out some investigations to find out what was behind.
The leaded clerestory has been carefully repaired and is once again visible to the street. The name of the business has been reinstated to the earlier fascia area, bringing back the traditional proportions of the shopfront. A colour scheme has been used which is sympathetic to the Conservation Area of Falkirk Town Centre.
The transformation of this little shopfront has been stunning and has revealed a beautiful piece of Falkirk’s shopfront history.
