At the start of 2014 Falkirk THI made contact with Glasgow School of Art and invited their architecture students to take part in a project, to think creatively about the buildings in Falkirk Town Centre and show the public a different view of this historical environment. From September 2014 four students worked with the THI Heritage Engagement Officer exploring the THI priority projects and other buildings in the town centre.
The architecture of Falkirk town centre is very diverse in styles due to the hotchpotch nature of individual development over a long period of time. The THI wanted the students to explore some of these different styles in a way that would interest the public. The GSA students did this through sketches and 3D models. In total 11 sketches and 13 models have been produced.
These were displayed in Callendar House as part of the ‘Stories in Stone’ Exhibition in 2015-2016.
