P14968 Aerial View - CopyWe offered free heritage walks to schools and other groups around Falkirk town centre. These were delivered by our volunteer tour guides or the THI Heritage Engagement Officer. Working with the class teacher the walks were developed individually for each school and class based on areas of interest and the desired curriculum experiences and outcomes. Key elements that were included were:

  • The Steeple
  • Road Names and their meanings
  • Old Falkirk Parish Church
  • Changes in town centre use

During the walk, pupils were given the opportunity to look at old photos, so they could visualise how things have changed. Following the walk teachers received copies of historic photos for use in the classroom.
